Though I didn’t attend the class before and I didn’t know how to design the 2-d painting well. However, I still try to make a wanderful namecard to start my class. First of all, my roomate told me that if I want to make a namecard, I need to design a blue print first, which will be graved by laser. By the way, the blue print can be copied on the picture you download on the Internet. So I downloaded a picture like this because I am a big fan of the iron man.

And after using the tool of line, I finally got my blue print. I didn’t copy the whole picture but leave some space for graving my name. Besides, it is required to design the structure to make the namecard be able to stand. I measure the depth of the wood, and it is about 0.4 cm. So I decide to make the width is 0.4 cm of the cavity.

Now I need change the blue print into the real object. My roommate gave me a lot of help who teach me how to use the machine. It was really exciting to see the process of the laser graving.

It was lucky that I successfully made the namecard even there was a little problem that the power of the laser was a bit high, which caused somewhere be burned to black. However, I still feel proud of myself. Take a picture to show my work:
